Xeomin® treats frown lines, brow wrinkles, crow’s feet, and more.  Around the world, Xeomin® was introduced in 2005, but in the United States, it garnered attention in 2010. The active ingredient in Xeomin® is botulinum toxin — the same that is in Botox® and Dysport®. Patients who haven’t found success with Botox® or Dysport® may prefer this alternative.

What’s The Difference?

If you’ve had unsatisfactory results with Botox® or Dysport®, you might respond more positively to Xeomin®.  In Botox®, protein coats the main ingredient causing antibodies to form occasionally reducing the efficacy of the product.  However, protein does not coat the active ingredient in Xeomin®.  Therefore, antibodies don’t develop and the patient responds more positively.

Are There Side Effects?

Most patients find that the procedure is very tolerable. The needle used is very tiny, and there may be a slight burning sensation during injection.  To minimize the burning sensation, some Doctors recommend using cold air and ice packs. Many prefer this option because treatment only requires about 10 minutes.

Results typically last three to four months before additional treatment is necessary.  Please keep in mind that results may vary depending on the area.
